ILA LEAVITT Ila Mecham Leavitt, 87, of Las Vegas, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2015. She was born Oct. 18, 1927, in Lynndyl, Utah, to Wallace Lumar and Dolores Forsyth Mecham. The family moved to Las Vegas, around 1932, when her father was hired to work on the Hoover Dam. She has resided in Las Vegas since that time. She attended cosmetology school and obtained her professional license. She was a wife, mother, sister and an active member of the LDS church as a member of the Meadows 6th Ward. She served in various callings including the Relief Society and as a Sunday school librarian. Ila was well known for the butter toffee she made each year. She was preceded in death by her husband, of 57 years, J. Marion Leavitt; and daughter, Gaynel Leavitt. She is survived by sons, J. Edward and wife Jaynie, Richard L., Lloyd D. and wife Lu-Ann; daughter, Diana Leavitt; grandchildren, Jennifer, Justin, Scott and Sarah Leavitt, Nathaniel J. and Desirae I. Roleff; great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Roleff, Devin Shadel, Alexander and Jacob Leavitt. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 21, with a services following, both at the LDS Chapel, 5800 Carl Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89108. Burial following at Bunkers Memory Gardens Cemetery, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road, Las Vegas, NV 89129. Flowers may be sent to Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. N., Las Vegas, NV 89101.
