JACK HON Jack D. Hon, 80, of Las Vegas, passed away May 19, 2011. He was born Aug. 8, 1930, in Bristow, Okla., and resided in Nevada for 46 years. Jack Hon was a devoted family man who believed in giving back to his community all his life, any way that he was able. Before he was stricken with Alzheimer's disease, he was an active member of the Lions Club, having held several offices including president, committee chairman, and MD-4 governor. In addition, he was active in the Boy Scouts, having served as a scoutmaster, district commissioner, Order of the Arrow advisor, chairman of the Council Outdoor Committee, and a member of the Executive Board. He was awarded a Lifetime Membership to the Parent-Teachers Association for his work in schools, and he served on the North Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce as president and as director. Jack retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years, with his last assignment at Nellis Air Force Base. While he was in the military, he served in the Korean War, as well as having been stationed in Turkey and Libya. After his Air Force retirement, he became a commercial real estate broker in the Las Vegas Valley, and was in Who's Who in Real Estate, Who's Who in Real Estate Marketing Management, and Who's Who in American Real Estate. He had also served as a member for the Board of Directors, and as a National Real Estate consultant. Jack's fraternal memberships included Veterans of Foreign Wars, Vegas Lodge 32, F&AM, Tulsa Consistory, and Zelzah Shrine. Jack and his beloved wife, Cecilia, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary May 6, 2011. His family will miss him tremendously. He was preceded in death by his son, Jerry Hon; and his daughter, Michelle Hon. He is survived by his wife, of 50 years, Cecilia Hon; his daughter, Sharon Fulwider; and his daughter, Renee Hon. In addition, he is survived by his five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Thursday, May 26, at 10:40 a.m., at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery. The cemetery is located at 1900 Buchanan Boulevard, Boulder City, NV 89005. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Jack Hon's name.
