James Brown

James "Jim" Luther Brown, 76, of Las Vegas, passed away Friday, Jan. 29, 2016. Jim was born Sept. 13, 1939, in Oklahoma City. He attended Las Vegas High School and graduated from Sublette High School in Sublette, Kan. He served four years in the U.S. Navy as an aircraft mechanic. Jim moved to Las Vegas, in 1962, after marrying Freda Brungardt. He worked at the test site before starting his own company, Triple J Trenching, in 1982, where he was currently working as an estimator. Jim was a scout leader for Pack 180 and Troop 77 and he earned the Silver Beaver Award. He spent his spare time playing poker. Jim is survived by his sister, Catherine Clifford; his sons, Jimmy Brown and Johnny Brown; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and five grand-dogs. Services will be at 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, at Faith Community Lutheran Church, 2700 S. Town Center Drive, Las Vegas. A private reception will follow. In lieu of flowers we ask for donations to Boy Scouts of America or your favorite charity.
