James Scott Pickren, 58, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2016, in Henderson, from natural causes. A resident of southern Nevada since 1982, he was born Sept. 5, 1957, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Howard Joseph Pickren and JoAnne Horkley Pickren. Scott grew up in Midvale, Utah, and enjoyed hunting and riding his horse Billy around Midvale Meat Packing, the family business. He became an Eagle Scout and graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1975. He earned his degree from the College of Pharmacy at the University of Utah in 1981, where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Shortly after graduation and moving to Las Vegas, he began working at Sunrise Hospital and worked there for over 25 years. He eventually earned his PharmD from the University of Florida in 2002. Later, he worked at Spring Valley Hospital as director of pharmacy until 2015. He was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife, Nancy (nee Wylie); mother, JoAnne; sister, Jerri Pickren Betts; stepson, Garrett Smith; son, Nathaniel; daughter, Jenna; mother of his children from second marriage (1992), Gail Morin Pickren; former spouse from first marriage (1983), Cindy Frame Perry; and former stepson, Andrew Frame. He will also be missed by his dog, Zasha; and cat, Bootsy. The two pets will keep family members comforted during these difficult times. In the past year, Scott was finally able to get the Harley-Davidson trike that he wanted and immensely enjoyed riding it. During a viewing and graveside service with his family and close friends in attendance, Scott was laid to rest Monday, June 27, at Lake Hills Memorial in Sandy, Utah. He was buried next to his grandfather. "Rest in Peace." In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
