May 18, 1934 — January 22, 2014

JAMES TINDALL James Edward Tindall, 79, of Henderson, was born May 18, 1934, in Smithfield, Mo., and passed away Jan. 22, 2014. He lived in the Muskogee, Okla. area for many years, where he served in the U.S. National Guard. He moved his family to Henderson in 1959. At that time, Jim worked as an optician for Nevada Optical and Las Vegas Optical, until he owned and operated his own stores, Optical Design and Vision World. Jim was an avid bowler, he served on the Southern Nevada Bowler's Association Board of Directors for over 10 years, and was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 1987. He carried a 200 average for over five years, and had 11 700 series. He held the area high for four games at 992 and, in 1970, held the high series of 744 for three games. He bowled a 290 game and two 300 games, one of them being the first ever 300 game at Sam's Town Bowling Center. Jim found his second passion, golf. He was a member and shareholder at Black Mountain Golf and Country Club, where he made many life-long friends. One of his happiest golf moments was making a hole in one on Horizon #8. After retiring, he and Mariann moved to Kingman, Ariz., where they lived and played at Vista Valley Golf Course, making more life-long friends. A few years later, they returned to Las Vegas to be close to family and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Pearl Tindall; sisters, Dorothy Ann Mason, and Mary Dean Hunter; and daughter, Jamie Annette Tindall. He is survived by his wife, Mariann Tindall; children, Larry Tindall (Andrea), Debra George (Richard), Rick Tindall (Celena), Dawn Gould ((Randy) and Ronda Young; sisters, Edna McIntosh (Ralph) and Carol Pollard (Terry); 12 grandchildren; and 16 great- grandchildren. Burial will be private. Celebration of life will be noon-4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at Black Mountain Golf and Country Club, 500 Greenway Road, Henderson. Donations would be greatly appreciated in Jim's name to Harmony Hospice, who kindly served him.
