Janice Irene Claudy, 76, passed away July 29, 2014, in Las Vegas, after a short illness. Jan was born in Oakes, N.D., Feb. 25, 1938. She graduated from Oakes High School in 1956, where she was a snare drummer with the drum and bugle corps, then she worked as a phone operator. In Las Vegas, she worked as a nurse's aid, bartender and security guard. She had a wonderfully quick wit and kept everyone on their toes with it. She was also a wonderful wife, mother and patriot. In her later years, Jan loved working on the computer and watching old TV shows. She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Leroy Day; and her mother, Rosalind Florence Henjum. She is survived by her husband, Terrence Claudy; and by her two sons, Brandon Anderson of Las Vegas and Bradley Anderson of California; sisters and brothers, Phyllis (Alan) Kenny of Hecla, S.D., Diane (Paul) Yager of Eden Prairie, Minn., Charles (Sally) Day of Dundas, Minn., Elaine (Lloyd) Just of Aberdeen, S.D., Dennis Day of Aberdeen, and Linda (Dan) Larson of Bismarck, N.D. As she lived quietly, Jan did not want memorial services. She left us with her memories. She will be missed very much by her family and friends. "Rest in peace."
