Jay F. Ehlers, 81, returned to his Heavenly home and the arms of his beloved wife, Red, March 1, 2016. Jay was born in Salt Lake City, and was a 48-year resident of Las Vegas. A veteran of the Korean War, he later retired from the North Las Vegas Police Department as a K-9 officer and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was also preceded in death by his son, Scott Nelson; and grandsons, Chris Rock and Jayson Nelson. Jay is survived by children, Cathy Rock (Stan), Mark Ehlers (Brenda), RaShell Windholz (Gary) and Mary Jo Corey; 15 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Viewing will be noon-12:45 p.m. Saturday, March12, with services following at 1 p.m., both at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel, 801 Arrowhead Trail, Henderson, NV 89002. Burial following at 2:30 p.m. at Bunkers Eden Vale Memorial Park, 1216 Las Vegas Boulevard N., Las Vegas, NV 89101.
