J.C. McDaniel, 86, passed away March 5, 2017, after a brief illness, surrounded by his children. J.C. was born Jan. 11, 1931, in Muskogee, Okla., one of 14 children. In 1947, J.C. moved to California, where he met the love of his life, Aileen Jones. The two married in 1951 and had three children in Santa Paula, Calif. Moving to Las Vegas in 1965, J.C. worked for Reynolds Electrical and Engineering at the Nevada Test Site. He retired in 1993 after a long and successful career in drilling. J.C. enjoyed fishing and golfing with his family, friends, children and grandchildren. He was an avid NASCAR and Los Angeles Dodger fan. Traveling to vacation in Hawaii, visiting family in California and Oklahoma were among his favorite places. J. C. was preceded in death by his parents, William "Mac" and Flora McDaniel; his wife, Aileen; his son, Duane; and all of his siblings. His children lovingly remember him, David McDaniel of St. George, Utah (Audrey) and Linda Howard of Las Vegas (Jim). J.C. was a devoted grandfather to Alisha Howard-Adams (Jordan), Kimmie Howard-Morgan (Trevor), Noel McDaniel-Farrell (Ted), Jesse Howard (Mercedes), Nicholas McDaniel (Brittney), Brandon, Dillon, Colton and Shasta McDaniel. He was also the proud great-grandfather to Macie and Cody Howard, Tyler Morgan, Hally and Presley McDaniel, Sage and Delaney McDaniel. Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing noon-2 p.m. Thursday, March 9, with memorial service following, both Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. N., Las Vegas, NV 89101.
