Jerry Gampel

December 10, 1929 — September 22, 2012

Jerry Gampel went to heaven Sept. 22, 2012. Jerry, a man full of life and love, left behind his wife, Celia Gampel; daughter, Penny Jaffe and husband, Steven; his grandchildren, Dan, Craig and Brianna, of Las Vegas; daughter, Mindy Shapiro; and grandson, Blake, of Tucson, Ariz.; daughter, Linda Meyerson and her husband, David Boyko, of Lumberville, Pa.; son, Gary Meyerson and wife, Pam; grandchildren, Steven and John; great-grandchildren, Connor and Kendall, of Las Vegas; son, Robert Meyerson and wife, Joanna; and grandchildren, Nicole and Lauren of San Diego. Jerry was born Dec. 10, 1929, in the Bronx, N.Y. Jerry married wife, Carol, raising their daughters in Fords, N.J., until her untimely death. Before retiring to Las Vegas, Jerry owned and operated the highly successful Gampel Supply Corporation in New York City for over 25 years. Jerry moved to Las Vegas in 1996, and soon met his love, Celia, and they married in May 1999. Jerry enjoyed his wonderful life with Celia, which included constant world travel to exotic locations, and enjoying all the fun Las Vegas could offer them. He enjoyed tennis and bowling, and could not go without knowing what the Yankees or Colts did when they played. Jerry enjoyed working as a volunteer member of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department at McCarran Airport, where he regularly worked for five years. He was also involved as a member of Temple BKB for over 15 years, volunteering in a variety of different ways, and served as a Chancellor Commander of the Knights of Pythians. Jerry was a family man, who always lovingly partook in his childrens' and grandchildrens' lives, always having a smile, a joke, or a funny story for them. He leaves behind memories we will all cherish for as long as we will live, and he will be missed. The family requests that any donations in his memory be made to the American Heart Association . Services were previously held. Rest in peace.
