Jim "Jimmy" E. Blanchard, age 57, passed away Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016, after battling cancer, at home with close friends and family present. He was born Feb. 9, 1958, in Las Vegas, where he was a lifelong resident. During his early years, Jim worked in the masonry trade for almost 30 years and later he became a member of Iron Workers Union #433 and Operating Engineers #501. He worked for the West Gate Hotel and Casino. Jimmy enjoyed riding his Harley soft tail, off-roading and riding the sand dunes. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Cherrial Champion and Eli Blanchard. Jim is survived by his daughter, Nicole Blanchard; and two grandchildren, Mi'Amore Tierra Marie Blanchard, Jayceon Kassius and Jim McKinney; as well as his sisters, Arta Lee and Barbara Sheldon. He is survived by his nieces, Marsha Lilla, Melissa Lee and Sara Balhan, of Las Vegas. Memorial services will be at noon Saturday, Feb. 27, at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. N. "Ride in Peace Jimmy."
