Joanne Wagner Fairchild

Joanne Wagner Fairchild, 73, of Las Vegas, NV passed away on June 27th, 2023 surrounded by her loved ones.

Joanne was born on June 27th, 1950 to Gerald Wagner and Rogene (Shepard) Wagner in Plainview, TX. After graduating from Plainview High School, she continued her studies at Trinity University, Texas Tech University, and ultimately finished both Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Social Work from the University of Kansas.

After graduation, she landed her first job as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, kicking off a 30+ year career in social work. Her most notable professional achievements in social work include working with the developmentally delayed population, emotionally disturbed children and Multiple Sclerosis clients. To those who knew Joanne, equine assisted therapy was her passion.

In 1968, she met Robert Fairchild, and they wed in 1969, going on to have three children, Christopher, Matthew and Andrew. She later remarried and wed Randy Kidd in 1993. When asked how long she and Randy were married, Joanne would always respond with “a lifetime.”

After retiring in 2017, Joanne spent her time taking care of her animals. Her love for animals was deeply rooted into her everyday life, which included caring for her “favorite child” Elvira, and numerous other animals including mini horses, horses, donkeys, chickens, goats, cats and dogs.  She never met an animal, or a margarita, she didn’t love.

Joanne was predeceased by her parents (Gerald and Rogene), her husband Randy, her brother Gale, her three stepchildren Ryan, Jonathan and Miles, and her grandchild Oliver. She is survived by her sisters Sally (HG) and Elizabeth; her three sons Chris (Seana), Matt (Natalia) and Andrew (Sarah); and her grandchildren Quentin, Corbin, Téa, Brad, Eli, Emma, Spencer, Landon, Chloe, Isaac, Blake, and Millicent.
