John Amato, Jr.

John Amato, Jr., 94, passed away on December 1, 2023, in Las Vegas, NV. He was born on June 23, 1929, in Chicago, IL. John was a beloved father, brother, and grandfather who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

John is survived by his 3 children from his first marriage to Lorraine Geiger (nee Matz): Roxane Amato, John Amato III, and Christy Amato, and by his 3 children from his second marriage to Charlene Fleisher (nee Hecklinger): Jennifer Miner (John), Tonia Spiros (Chris), and Joseph Amato (Beth). He was also a cherished grandfather to nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. John is preceded in death by his father, John Amato, Sr., mother, Gertrude Amato (nee Grasso), sister Phyllis Amato, and brothers Nello Amato and Daniel Amato. He is also survived by his brother, Anthony Amato.

John proudly served in the Army for two years in Korea, demonstrating his dedication and commitment to his country. After his military service, he established himself as a successful business entrepreneur and musician, playing in the vibrant Chicago night club circuit.

In his free time, John was an active member of The Italian American Club, The Grandsons of Italy, and the FIORE Club. These organizations allowed him to connect with others who shared his Italian heritage and interests.

John Amato, Jr. leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.  He will be forever remembered as a dedicated family man and a proud veteran.  His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
