John Richard Chambless, 93, of Las Vegas, passed away Oct. 18, 2016. He was born July, 27, 1923, in Chapel Hill, Tenn., and was a 23-year resident of Nevada. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and sailed from England to the United States on the Queen Mary's final voyage. John was an engineer specializing in Gulfstream corporate aircraft who was well-known at the Van Nuys Airport in California, where he worked at the Jet Center for many years. After retiring in 1993 in Las Vegas, he was a DER for the Federal Aviation Administration and assisted many with their aircraft and helicopters. John was a brilliant man, so kind and patient. He was loved by all who knew him. John is survived by his wife, Donna. Service will be at noon, Thursday, Nov. 3, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City.
