John Wesley Childress

John Wesley "Mouse" Childress, Jr. passed away peacefully on Saturday,
July 30, 2022, in Las Vegas, Nevada, surrounded by his devoted family.
John Jr. was born on April 15, 1951, to Evelyn and John Wesley Childress,
Sr. in South Bend, Indiana. John Jr. graduated from Central High School.
After graduating from high school, John Jr. enlisted in the United States Air
Force, from which he was Honorably Discharged. Several years later, John
Jr. relocated to Las Vegas where he resided for the past 35 years. While
working as a Timeshare Agent, John Jr.'s congenial personality garnered
him many friends. John Jr. acquired a wealth of knowledge about "The Strip"
which made him a resourceful tour guide and consummate host for family and
friends who visited the area. Whenever John Jr. was around, a good time
was had by all.
John Jr. was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Evelyn and John
Wesley Childress, Sr. John Jr. leaves to forever cherish his memory his four
loving children: Torlando (Suzette) Childress, Toficia (Carl) Trotter-Neal,
Kalyn Childress, and John Trotter; six grandchildren and one greatgrandchild.
John Jr. is also survived by his six siblings: Ronald (Krystal)
Childress Sr., Sharla Childress Anderson, Jacqueline Childress-Mitchell,
Kevin Childress, Dana Childress-Jones, and Bryan (Brenda) Childress, as
well as a vast number of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many
friends.
John Jr. was quick-witted, fun-loving, and optimistic. He shared his
positive outlook with all who knew him. John Jr. frequently spoke of his
relationship with God, often quoting the bible. During times of bereavement,
he would console those in mourning by saying, "To be absent from the body is
to be present with the Lord." John Jr. will always be loved and cherished by
those whose lives he touched.
