John L. Hall was taken from this world rather suddenly by death on October 5th, 2023. Death had to move swiftly because without making such efforts John would have easily gotten away. His wife, Lyn Mackey Hall and his three daughters, Rebecca Hall Carnine, Jelayne Hall Baker and Jennifer Hall were with him at the time of his passing.
John was born on April 12th, 1950 in Michigan City, Indiana to a cruel and uncaring father and his loving late mother Audrey J. Todd. Audrey later married Ray Hall where John got his last name. Finally Audrey married Ray Roames and at the age of 18, John was adopted. The family was not only John but siblings Daniel Ray Roames, Richard "Rick"
Roames, Janet Roames, Jeffery Brett Roames and Timothy Edward Roames.
John fit right in and was a brother to Dan, Jeff, Tim, Rick and the quintessential older brother for Janet. When not in school, or trouble, John was often working on cars.
At Isaac C. Elston senior high school John was a basketball player and earned two nicknames, "Stretch" and "Big John." High school went by quickly. John graduated and after a short stint working, enlisted in the Air Force. In the Air Force John served as an aircraft mechanic in Vietnam, working on both the F-4 Phantom and the A-10 Thunderbolt.
After the war John was stationed in Germany where he continued his service. John's final post was Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas where he finished his service maintaining the F-15 Strike Eagle and the F-16 Fighting Falcon. Following his service in the Air Force John continued being an aircraft mechanic, but switched to maintaining Helicopters. John worked for several companies but the one he was most proud of was Flight for Life. John was the lead mechanic ensuring that all of the helicopters were properly maintained and ready at a moments notice to fly. John continued with Flight for Life when the company opened a new location in Bellingham, Washington.
John was an avid family man who was an amazing husband and loved all of his children. John was first married to Karen Nowak and they had two beautiful daughters, Jelayne Hall and Jennifer Hall. Later John was married to Darlene Brooker and gained a loving daughter Rebecca Espling. John and Darlene had a son, Jeremiah John Hall who was sadly lost in his first year of life. Not to be deterred by horrible circumstances John pushed ahead and adopted Rebecca and she happily took the last name of her daddy, Hall. John married his last wife, Lyn Mackey and added three more children to his life. David Mackey, Deborah Mackey and Daniel Mackey were welcomed to the fold and forced to go to holiday gatherings, many sporting events, and long car rides with no escape.
In addition to family life, John enjoyed a variety of sports. John loved playing basketball. Baseball saw John as a volunteer umpire, an assistant coach and a lifelong Cubs fan. John was a bowling coach and excellent bowler, scoring 300 numerous times. John also loved to fish; catching and subsequently releasing a great number of fish. John attended every Las Vegas Golden Knights game that he could.
The greatest point of pride for John was both his children and his grandchildren. One grandchild, Logan, held a special place in John's heart. John went exploring around Pioche, Nevada, with Logan. For John, Logan was the son that could have been. John did everything possible with Logan and also was an honorary coach member of Logan's baseball team.
John is preceded by his brother Daniel Roames, his son Jeremiah, and his granddaughter Cheyenne.
John is survived by his siblings Rick Roames, Janet Roames, Jeff Roames and Tim Roames. By his wife Lyn Mackey Hall. By his children Rebecca Carnine, Jelayne Hall Baker and Jennifer Hall. By his grandchildren Brenden, Brooklyn, Baleigh, Spencer, Sarah, Kristen, Anthony, Ashley, Christopher, Connor and Logan. And lastly by his great grandchildren Emmalynn and Anthony.
