John C. "Jack" Maurice, 79, of Las Vegas, passed away Jan. 16, 2012. He was born Nov. 29, 1932, in Marion County, Kan., and was a 54-year resident of Nevada. John served in the U.S. Army, 1st Infantry Division during the Korean War. He had many positions in the gaming industry from dealer to executive over a 50-year span, spending the last 30 years or so at the Palace Station, where he was loved by the customers and dealers. He was always known for his tasteful attire. As a young man he loved hunting and fishing. John was a beloved father and is survived by his loving daughter, Eva; his sisters, Mary Markan, "Tish" Turrone; and brothers, Arthur Maurice, Jim Rusk and Ed Rusk. No services are scheduled.
