JOHN PINJUV(1923 - 2015)
.
JOHN PINJUV John "Johnny" Pinjuv, 92, passed away peacefully after a brief illness July 29, 2015. Johnny was born March 18, 1923, in Las Vegas. He was one of eight children born to Mike and Frances (nee Malnar) Pinjuv, Croatian immigrants who settled in Las Vegas in 1915. Johnny graduated from Las Vegas High School in 1941, when it was the only high school in Las Vegas. After school, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. When he returned, he married Barbara "Bobbi" Linam, the love of his life, and they had eight children together. He owned Las Vegas Heating and Sheet Metal for a number of years before going to work in the Clark County Treasurer's Office, where he eventually retired. John was a kind and gentle man. As a father with eight children, Johnny's greatest joy was having a house full of family and friends. He was a dad to all the neighborhood kids and always had a helping hand or kind word to anyone in need. His quick smile and sense of humor would make everyone feel right at home. His generous nature was felt not only by his family but by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Johnny was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbi; daughter, Terry; and son, Gary. He is survived by his children, John (Debbie), Charles "Pat" (Pam), Jimmer (Susan), Paul, Shane (Linn) and Michaelyn; 17 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Mike and Fred; and his sister, Evana Petty. We celebrate the life of a truly special man who had an impact on so many lives that he touched. Celebration of his life will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at 3036 Alta Drive. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested a gift in memory of John Pinjuv be sent to Huntington's Disease Society of America, hdsa.org
