Jose De La Torre "Pepe", born on September 3, 1952, in Jerez, Zacatecas, Mexico, to the late Valentín De La Torre and Valentina Carrillo, PePe spent his younger years traveling between the U.S. and Mexico, working as a cook. During those years, he laid his hat in many different cities and met people from all walks of life. In the early 1970s, he married Elvira Colón, with whom he would share three children. Roughly 15 years later, he moved his family to the United States; starting a new chapter built on hard work, sacrifice, and deep love.
Pepe was the heart of our family. A man of faith, strength, and tireless dedication, he often held multiple jobs to ensure his family was provided for. He valued God, family, and the simple but beautiful moments spent together. He loved riding horses and barbecuing, but most of all, he loved being with his family. His happiest times were those spent surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; especially during the holidays, when his joy lit up the room.
Pepe made each of us feel special, seen, and loved. He didn't just speak about love, he showed it daily through his actions, his work ethic, and his unshakable presence.
To us, Pepe wasn't just a grandfather. He was everything and more. He was an example of strength, faith, and love. His life taught us what it means to be selfless, to work hard, and to cherish every moment we have with one another.
"Pepe" Jose De La Torre, 72, passed away peacefully on the evening of August 30, 2025, in the presence of some of the many who loved him dearly. He is survived by his beautiful wife, three sisters, two brothers, one daughter, two sons, nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit will forever live on in every family gathering, every horse ride, every shared meal, and in every quiet moment where we feel his presence in our hearts.
We love you, Pepe. Thank you for everything. You will always be with us.
