Josefina (Carranza) Solzano

May 8, 1933 — January 16, 2022

Josefina Carranza Solzano

The family Matriarch earned her wings and was called back to her Lord on January 16, 2022. She was 88 years young,

She was our source of security, full of love, care, wisdom, and wittiness. A devoted wife, loving Mother, Abuelita (Grandma), Great-grandmother, Tia (Aunt), Daughter, and Friend. Above all, she valued her children the most.

Beautiful, strong, confident, spontaneous and adventurous. She conquered many adverse situations, a survivor. She always worked hard, remained dedicated, and provided her children with the knowledge and skills to make a difference in their lives.

Josefina was born May 8, 1933, in Zacatecas, MX to Luisa and Ascencion Carranza. She was the proud Mother of Luisa (Robert), Francisco, Anna (David), Jessie, Pete (Tonya), Carmen, Christopher and Mark (Victoria), Ricky (deceased), and Rachel (Donny). She was also a proud Abuelita of 22 grandkids, 29 great-grandkids, and loving sister to her brother Juan Antonio (LLoyda), sister Belen, sister Lupe (deceased) and Aunt to many nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She left this world peacefully surrounded by her loving family and her favorite Mariachi music.

Josefina traveled to the United States 63 years ago, stopping in California, eventually moving to Las Vegas and providing a loving home for her family for 58 years. She was married to the Love of her life, Richard R Solzano (deceased). She owned several businesses and 2 restaurants (El Zarape and Josie’s Place), was employed at the Dunes Hotel for 32 years in Housekeeping as a linen attendant.  She was also a very respected member of the Club Social Mexicano.

She loved traveling to her home country of MX with her family to teach them about her heritage. She loved to travel to the beaches from coast to coast with her family. Her other loves were listening to Mariachi music and enjoying her friends. You could always find her at her favorite/happy place with her lifelong friend, Maria at Arizona Charlies.

She was an active member of St. Frances de Sales Catholic Church for over 50 years. Her faith in the Lord was very strong and important to her. Dios te Bendiga Mama'

ALWAYS A MOTHER, FOREVER ON OUR MINDS, ALWAYS IN OUR HEART.
