JOSEPHINE SCHOFIELD STEWART, 101, of St. George, Utah, passed away Aug. 5, 2011. She was born Dec. 4, 1909, in Provo, Utah, and was a 60-year resident of Las Vegas. Raised in Hiko, Josephine grew up to be a one-room school house teacher, cowgirl, seamstress, poet/writer, singer, homemaker and mother of eight children. She was honored as Nevada Mother of the Year in 1983. Words her family members use to describe her are spunky, stalwart, classy, loving, independent, determined, tiny, funny, beautiful, strong, steadfast, sharp, talented, enduring, pretty and exuberant! Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Cornell Stewart. She is survived by children, Sandra Pace (Ron), Kay Grover (Jerry), Douglas Stewart (Mary), Judy Wallace (Ken), Rose Woodbury (Bruce), JoNell Musser (Roger), Wendy North (David), Jill Gibson (Steve); and multitudes of adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Viewing will be 9-10:15 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, with services following at 10:30 a.m., both at the Arrowhead Stake Center, 801 Arrowhead Trail, Henderson, NV 89002.
