June Ki-Soon Bentulan “Maria Han”
June Ki-Soon Bentulan passed away peacefully in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 14, 2025 at age 89.
She was born June 22, 1936 in Seoul, South Korea to parents Han, Ki-Nam; mother Yu, Soon Bong; sister Han, Ki-Sook; brother Han, Ki-Poong, brother Han, Ki-Young.
June immigrated to the United Staes in 1972 by sponsorship.
She married Russell Bentulan in Las Vegas in 1974.
Getting a High School diploma, which was difficult to get during post Korean War, is an accomplishment she is very proud of.
Determined to make it in America, she would take only odd jobs and educated herself to expand her chances of employment (ie: cooking classes, sewing classes) before finally going to Dealer School and then worked as a dealer in a casino for decades. She had great attendance to boot.
June loves hiking, traveling and nature – particularly the mountains. She hiked her whole life. Outside of her son’s interests, she was devoted to her church.
People say she was very nice and kind, giving, supportive and intelligent. No one who knew her had a bad thing to say about her. She had a lot of positive energy and was strong physically and mentally.
Her biggest frustrations were uncleanliness and disrespect.
After a stint in Colorado, she moved to Las Vegas and has never left. She said she feels lucky winding up in Las Vegas.
Long time member of the Korean Catholic community, she has helped out the church on various duties throughout the years. She is very giving and supportive to her fellow church members. She was very happy when her members got their own church.
She really had a great sense of humor and would laugh or make her family laugh consistently. She was very classy in her demeanor and respectful to others. She was also very smart with money management and was a good example for us to follow.
June is survived by her only son, Ross Bentulan who splits his time between Las Vegas and Fullerton, CA.
She is predeceased by her parents, Han, Ki Nam and Yu, Soon Bong; grandparents Han, Kye Dong and Yim, Hwa Jung; siblings Han, Ki-Sook (Ys), Han, Ki-Poong (Yb) and Han, Ki Young (YgB).
June is survived also by her cousins, nieces, nephews scattered from Korea to America. She is survived also by her Catholic community, seniors club, work and neighbors.
