On Saturday, September 9, 2023, while at her home in Las Vegas, Karen Denise Blod (age 67) was called home to be with our Lord.
Karen was born “Karen Denise Ribbing” on February 28, 1956, in Dumas Texas. She was the daughter of Arnold John and Doris Jean (Glasscock) Ribbing. Karen is survived by her daughter (Lisa Blod of Garden Grove, CA), Lisa’s father (John Blod), her sister (Joy Boroski of Dillonvale, OH) and by her dear lifelong friends for whom her memory will be deeply cherished.
Karen was most recently retired from Platinum Properties where she worked as a resident manager at Freedom Storage in Las Vegas, NV with her dearly departed sister, Rhonda Armstrong, for many years. Prior to this, she worked for Mercury Savings & Loan and for the elementary schools in Riverside, CA. Her many years of volunteer work while a parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish in Riverside, CA and her service for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Las Vegas also gave her great happiness. Running the Fiesta Sweet Shop while making “Snicker Cookie Pops,” working the Fish Fry, helping with the yearly Senior Lunch-In, ushering at mass, and planning amazing birthday celebrations were just some of the ways Karen helped make some of the most memorable fun times happen for so many people.
Karen was an incredibly sincere, genuine, kind, and caring soul – a devoted Mother committed to her family. Working hard came naturally to her, as did serving others even while enjoying a fun game of bingo every now and then. She made wonderful friends everywhere she went and gave her all in everything she did. One could not ask for a better example of how to love unconditionally.
Our dearest Karen is now reunited with her parents, her sister Rhonda and the rest of her family who have been lovingly called out of this world, and there is another very special soul she can now know - her first-born daughter (Tanya Marie Blod) who was called home to paradise very early in life . . . Sweet Jesus has brought Tanya to meet her earthly Mother for the first time. As little Tanya took Karen’s hand, they excitedly walked together into the Kingdom of Heaven . . . After waiting for so long, Mommy is finally home.
