Kay Eileen Cassell was born in Ponca City, Oklahoma on September 9, 1936, and passed away in Las Vegas, Nevada on February 6, 2026, at the age of 89 years. She was the daughter of Morris and Ruth Oney.

Kay met her life-long love Carl Cassell during their Senior year attending differing high schools where she was a cheerleader and he was an athlete. Their marriage would span 61 years devoted to the family they would build together.

A move out West in 1964 would have them settle in Las Vegas when Carl joined the “Las Vegas Police Department” and Kay immersed herself in home and family. Kay would find tremendous joy in their four children and family activities. She would often display a sense of humor and unique perspective on family and life events. A favorite saying of hers what that she “often said something I haven’t thought of yet” and would create moments of laughter with her comments that may, or may not, relate to what was being discussed. She also had a flair for writing personal letters and would do so often during her lifetime. She found politics of interest and always had a news program on while at home. She supported the family love of baseball and later would enjoy traveling with Carl during his time in retirement as a professional baseball scout. They also enjoyed their travel trailer and the RV parks and beautiful sights along the way. Her life was full of home and family which was just the way she loved it.

Kay was proceeded in death by her parents, husband Carl, grandson Christopher, siblings Phyliss Sue, Nancy, Dick and Mary. She is survived by her children Chuck (Elaine), Mick (Janell), Kathy, and Greg (Gina). She is also survived by her grandchildren Christina, Jenna, Ryan, Alexandra, Skylar, Dillon and Madelinn and great-grandchildren Jacob, Aubrey, Emma, Evan, Cassidee and Desiree, as well as extended family who added much joy to her life.

In honor of Kay, lift a margarita, eat something sweet, and share a laugh with those you love.
