Kerry Wayne Cannon, 75, of Las Vegas, returned to his Heavenly Father. Dec. 2, 2011. He was born Feb. 9, 1936, to his parents, Kenneth and Madge Cannon, in Salt Lake City. Raised he St. George, Utah, he was a 51-year resident of Nevada. He served in the National Guard and was retired from the operating engineers union. Kerry married his high school sweetheart, Gwen Spendlove from Hurricane, Utah in 1954. In 1960, the couple moved to Las Vegas, where Kerry worked in the construction industry, helping to create the city that is well-known today. Kerry loved hunting, fishing and spending time at his cabin in Pine Valley, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Madge; his daughter, Lynda Scissons; and grandchildren, Tiffani and Levi Scissons. He is survived by his wife, Gwen Cannon; sons Jeffrey and Michael (wife, Cindy); daughters, Ava Fletcher and Kathie (husband, Gary) Peterson; sister, Charmaine Johnson; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Viewing will be 6-9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. N. Viewing again 9-10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, with services following, both at the Church of Latter-day Saints at Alta and S. Jones Blvd. Graveside services follow at 4 p.m., in St. George.
