Kwong Lai, 94, of Las Vegas, passed away peacefully Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015, in his sleep. Kwong Lai was born in Canton (Guangdong), China, Sept. 21, 1920. He was the second son of a family of nine children. During World War II, he served in General Chiang Kai-Shek's military. Kwong was a police officer in Taiwan and worked at the Union Plaza for 10 years after immigrated to the United States, in 1978. In 1997, Kwong became a proud citizen of the U.S. Kwong knew how to enjoy life and lived every day as if it were his last. Kwong enjoyed traveling, singing, playing musical instruments and gambling. Kwong is survived by his three children, Jen-Shin Lai, Jen Lai Nakata and Lih-Shing Lai; his son-in-law, Kenneth Nakata; his grandson, Kent Nakata; his dear niece, Hsin-Hsin Leavitt; her husband, Kim Leavitt; daughter, Megan Leavitt; as well as his beloved nephew, Keri Lai; and his wife, Maia Lai. Services will be private.
