LaWana Burt Margetts, 92, of Las Vegas, passed away peacefully Friday, May 1, 2015, from natural causes. She was born July 20, 1922, in Paragonah, Utah, to Willdon H. Burt and Sarah Gwendolyn Barton. She married Earl L. Margetts, June 24, 1942 in Salt Lake City, and later divorced. She worked for J.C. Penney as a department manager for over 20 years and also worked part-time as a teller at First Interstate Bank for 10 more years. Before working at age 40, she was a homemaker and a stay-at-home mom. As a young woman, she was an exceptional violinist. Later, her hobbies included crafts and painting. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Milo; nephew, Tom; son-in-law, Dwaine; and former husband, Earl. She is survived by three children, Diane McConnell, Jack Margetts (Jeanne) amd George Margetts (Barbara); four grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; her sister, Joyce Moore (Edward); and four nieces and nephews. She lived a long, wonderful life and will be remembered always as our loving mother. Viewing will be 12:30-1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 9, with services following, both at the LDS Church, 6601 W. Twain Ave. Burial following at Bunkers Memory Gardens, 7251 Lone Mountain Road.
