Leo Harris

April 5, 1937 — August 1, 2021

Leo Harris was born to Willie Harris and Floyd Windbush in Lake Providence, Louisiana. His Christian life began at an early age and as an adult he united with Faith Chapel in La Mesa, California under the leadership of the Late Rev. Greg, where he served as an usher. Upon relocating to Las Vegas, he united with Abundant Grace under the leadership of Pastor Rob Wright where he served as an usher until his health declined.

Leo graduated from Griffin High School in Lake Providence, La in 1955. He met Joanna Shaw and to this union, one child was born, Beverly. He later moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where he worked numerous jobs, including the Nevada Test Site. Eventually he settled in Lakeside, CA where he met and married Anna Dell Elliott. He worked for the City of San Diego as a heavy equipment operator in the Wastewater Department. After 30 years of service, he retired and moved back to Las Vegas, Nevada with his wife, Anna Dell.

Leo enjoyed music and had a large collection of jazz and blues. He loved cars and was proud of his bronze-colored Thunderbird in the 1980's. As he matured, he settled on a luxury Lincoln Continental. His favorite past-times were golfing, fishing, and watching sports.
Leo was preceded in death by his mother, Floyd Windbush Hopkins; father, Willie Harris; bonus father, Andrew Hopkins Sr.; wife, Anna Dell Harris; brothers, Roosevelt Hopkins, and Andrew Hopkins Jr. and sister, Blanchie Hopkins Phillips.

He leaves to cherish his memory a daughter, Beverly Riggans (Stanley) of Houston, Texas; a brother, Truman Hopkins of Las Vegas, Nevada; four sisters; Shirley Ann Davis (Henry), Ruth Hartwell, Elizabeth Eason and Joyce Windbush all of Las Vegas Nevada; A grandson, William Riggans of Houston, Texas; a step-daughter, Lynette Terry of Bend, Oregon; two step-sons, Robert Terry (Cindy) of Eugene, Oregon and Greg Elliott (Susie) of El Cajon, CA; three step-grandsons Socrates Hattox (Tina) of Phoenix, AZ, John Terry (Harmony) of Eugene, OR and Tyler Elliott of El Cajon, CA; a step-granddaughter, Cheryl Morris (Duane) of Kamiah. IA; two step-great granddaughters, Alexis Morris, and Addie Hattox; two step-great grandsons, Aristotle Hattox and Colt Morris; 29 nieces and nephews, 43 great nieces and nephews, 12 great-great nieces, nephews, and a host of cousins and friends.
