Lillie Belle Dixon Campbell, of Las Vegas, was born to John Dixon Sr. and Ella Pruitt in Rose Hill, Miss., July 20, 1925. Lillie was raised with her 13 brothers and sisters on a beautiful farm. Her upbringing during the Great Depression helped shape her work ethic, joy of gardening, and admiration of animals all filling her fond, childhood memories. Her appetite for education began early and led Lillie to become the Valedictorian of her high school. She then went on to attend college at Tennessee A & I, where she met and married the love of her life, Eugene Campbell Sr. After attaining her bachelors of science of education in 1949, she began her quest to teach which led her to Plainfield, N.J., where she maintained a presence for nearly 40 years. More than her passion for education, Lillie loved the Lord and would attend church "where ever they preached the Word." Her life ministry was illustrated by her zest for life, fellow man and the love of God. Those that knew Lillie knew that she was a social butterfly and no one enjoyed visiting with others, laughing and eating some good food quite like she did. She was an active member of the Tennessee State Alumni Association, Silver Threads Choir and the Red Hat Society. Lillie graduated from this world, joining her husband, Eugene Campbell Sr.; daughter, Pamela Rita McDowell; great-grandson, Joshua Campbell; and 10 sisters and brothers in paradise Feb. 9, 2013. Leading in her legacy are sons, Eugene Jr., Charles and Ed Phillips; daughter-in-law, Debra Campbell; granddaughter, Elizabeth McDowell; grandson and wife, Joseph and J'Netta Campbell; and grandsons, Shi-Lynn Ruben Campbell, Brandon E.
