With a spirit that touched many, it is with great sadness we announce that Linda Josephine Peterson Tyre, aged 83 years, peacefully passed away on June 28, 2025 after a lengthy illness.
Linda was born on December 31, 1941 to Clarence Peterson and Josephine (Horton) Peterson in Spokane, Washington.
Linda is survived by her husband of 63 years, Bobby Tyre, Lt. Colonel, USAF, retired, her daughter, Rebecca (Alexander), and granddaughters, Anastasia and Sophia Stojanoff, her son, Bryan, her son, Steven, and daughter Pamela (Aaron) and granddaughter Scarlett Bowen, as well as many nieces, nephews and in-laws and their families. She is preceded in death by her father, Clarence Peterson, mother, Josephine Wunsch, step-father, Frederick Wunsch and brother David Peterson. A 1959 graduate of Rogers High School, she went on to pursue business courses to work at the Spokane Credit Bureau, but all of that changed on a blind date in 1960, when she met the love of her life Bobby and could not wait to marry him in June of 1962. Joining the Officer’s Wives Club, she went on to move to many locations, including internationally before settling in Las Vegas in July of 1979. Her love of travel, music, film, cooking, animals, nature, sewing and crafts were large parts of her happiness and brought her much laughter. Linda will be greatly missed by her loving family as well as the family she created with friends, of which there are many.
Services will be held on Monday, the 21st of July, 2025 at Bunker's Mortuary at 10:00 am 925 Las Vegas Blvd, North, with interment to follow at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City, NV at 12:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to be made in Linda's honor to American Kidney Fund.
