MSGT. LLOYD TAYLOR U.S. Army, Retired Lloyd E. Taylor, 97, of Las Vegas, passed away peacefully Monday, May 30, 2011. Lloyd was a 45-year resident of Las Vegas. He was born July 2, 1913, in Pleasant Green, Mo., to William and Ethel Taylor, the second of five sons, Leonard, Lloyd, Harold, Lester, William and Walter. Lloyd enlisted in the U.S. Army May 26, 1936, proudly serving his country as a transportation specialist for 30 years, including during both World War II and the Korean War. Lloyd married the love of his life, Yoshiko, March 19, 1958, in Yokohama, Japan. He retired at the rank of master sergeant March 1, 1966 and, shortly thereafter, permanently relocated his young family to Las Vegas, working as a security guard at the Sands Hotel for approximately 10 years thereafter. Lloyd was an inspiration to everyone that he encountered, with an endearing sense of humor and a profound love of family, friends, waitresses, country and life that motivated him to exercise religiously and take a dizzying array of vitamins and other nutritional supplements, with hard-to-argue results, as evidenced by his long life and impressive physical strength that remained up to the moment of his passing. Lloyd is survived by his loving and devoted wife, of 53 years, Yoshiko; brother, William; son, Walter; son-in-law and daughter, Lenny and Suzanne Badger; grandsons, Joel and Jason Taylor; and granddaughters, Peyton, Megan and Sydney Badger. Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Saturday, June 4, with services following, both at Bunkers Eden Vale Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. N. Reception will follow.
