Lois Barton, age 90, of Hurricane, Utah, returned home to her Heavenly Father May 28, 2014, to be with husband, Max K. Barton. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. Lois was a proud member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving various callings including relief society visiting teaching, her calling with Max to the St George Temple for two years, commuting from Las Vegas weekly. And then they're calling to serve at the brand new Las Vegas Temple. Lois was preceded in death by her daughter, Marylou Turpin; her mother and father, Joyce and Moroni Klingonsmith; her brothers, Clyde of Las Vegas, Moroni of Hacienda Heights, Calif., and Leo (Swede) of Cedar City, Utah; and a sister, Helen of St. George, Utah. Lois leaves a long and proud legacy of a hardworking life, she leaves three children, sons, Gaylard "Bart" of Hurricane, Utah, and Brent of Las Vegas, and a daughter, Elois Beaty of Las Vegas; 13 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. The pride she felt for her grandchildren continued to the end. She is survived by her two sisters, Carma McMolloch of Ogden, Utah, and Ila Robinson of Cedar City. Lois was born June 23, 1923, in Cedar City, to Moroni and Joyce Klingonsmith. She attended Cedar City High School and had an early interest in graphic art. She married Max K. Barton September 1940 in Parowan, Utah. Max and Lois started their married life in Pioche, where Max worked in the silver mines. Later moving to Cedar City, followed by a brief move to Escondido, Calif., where Max worked on the construction of Camp Pendleton Marine Base. They returned to Cedar City, where Max worked as a diesel mechanic at the iron mines and repaired over-the-highway-freight-trucks. Lois and Max moved their family to Las Vegas in December 1955. Together, they were business partners in the Las Vegas Diesel Service for over 17 years. After retirement, Lois enjoyed traveling across the United States and Canada in their motor home. Lois returned to Cedar City in 2009 and moved to live with her son in Hurricane in 2011. Lois lived a comfortable life until the very last day, she got up that morning, got washed up, dressed, put on her makeup, lipstick and polished her finger nails, in the early afternoon after a phone call to her sister, she suffered a massive stroke brain hemorrhage, passing away quietly at the St. George Hospital. Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing planned for the evening of June 5, 5:30-8:30 p.m. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 7, at the 10th Ward at 1178 South 700 West in Hurricane, viewing 9-10 am. Services following. Burial will follow in Cedar City, at 2.30 p.m., where she will lie in rest next to her beloved husband.
