Lola L. Turek

August 16, 1930 — February 18, 2012

Lola Leavitt Turek, 81, a homemaker and mother, of Las Vegas, passed away Feb. 18, 2012. She was born Aug. 16, 1930 in St. George, Utah, and was a 55-year resident of Nevada. Lola, the youngest child of the late Thomas and Rhoda Leavitt, was raised in Bunkerville and Logandale. She married Edward Huntington Turek May 31, 1952 in Logandale, and they were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together, they lived and traveled across both this country and world during his 26 years in the U.S. Air Force before moving to Las Vegas in 1979. Lola loved serving in church, especially as a librarian and in Relief Society. She loved her family greatly and loved gathering together with them, especially at Christmas. Lola was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Verna Bowler; and brothers, Len, Max and Grant. Lola is survived by her husband, of 59 years, Edward Turek of Las Vegas; son, Gary (Joanne) Turek of Rock Hill, S.C.; son, Mikell (Kelly) Turek of Henderson; son, Chris (Laura) Turek of Las Vegas; daughter, Sherri (Jason) Martin of Las Vegas; and 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 24. The memorial service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 25, both at LDS Chapel, 3901 E Viking. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Lola's name to the Nathan Adelson Hospice.
