Lynn George Hadfield

June 3, 1940 — December 24, 2015

Lynn George Hadfield passed away on Christmas Eve at 3:15 pm in his home surrounded by his family. He was born June 3, 1940 in Ogden, Utah to Slim and Louise Hadfield. While attending Weber State College, he met his best friend Karen Winterbottom. They knew quickly they would spend their lives together. Lynn and Karen got married on December 17, 1960 and started their family with a son, Lance Hadfield, while living in Roy Utah. During this time Lynn finished his education to become a high school teacher and coach. Next came a daughter, Kellee Horlacher, followed by their third child, Bobbi Lee. Soon after, they all moved to Las Vegas, NV to continue Lynn’s teaching/coaching career. Amy Nelson, their last daughter, was born and the Hadfield family was complete. Lynn and Karen became eternal companions in the Ogden Temple on August 12, 1976. What a glorious day it was as both sets of their parents were also sealed together on that same day. Lynn’s expertise in serving was refined as he served as Elder’s Quorum President. He loved the families he was blessed to assist as he later served in the bishopric. After a successful thirty-five year career he retired, and was lucky to spend the next sixteen years traveling the world with his most trusted companion Karen, family, and wonderful friends.Lynn loved all things outdoors and sporting of every kind. He was not only a teacher in the classroom but, more importantly, in life. His love for others made it easy for him to share his knowledge and passions. A few included weekly car washing/vacuuming, routine maintenance on Lance’s Monte Carlo, meticulous household repair the moment it became needed, and yardwork for the whole neighborhood. Lynn spent countless hours helping neighbors, friends, students, and athletes, as well as his family. He was also a great outdoorsman where he could light a fire in the pouring rain, while catching the most fish, or bagging the biggest deer. What helped him most enjoy these activities was his desire for teaching others these same skills. Lynn’s success in coaching was due in part to his relationship with fellow coaches and their united devotion to their players. Lynn is survived by his wife, four children, sixteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and twenty-two nieces and nephews who he loved and mentored as his own. Service for Lynn will be held on Friday January, 1 2016 at the LDS chapel on 375 North Hollywood Blvd. LV, NV 89110. The viewing will begin at 12:00 followed immediately by a memorial at 2:00. All are welcome to attend and celebrate the life of Lynn George Hadfield. Graveside dedication will be Monday January 4, 2016 at Mountain View Cemetery in Beaver Utah.
