Mahalia Carr was born January 4, 1965 in Tallulah, Louisiana. Her parents Mr. & Mrs. Otto and Betty Carr, she was the fourth daughter born into this family union. At the age of one, the family moved to Las Vegas where she remained until her death. Mahalia graduated from Bonanza High School, class of 1983. That was one of the many proud moments in her life.
Mahalia loved her name because she always felt the love and admiration from her great auntie Mahalia Williams whom she was named after. As a child her summer months were spent in California visiting her aunt Mahalia who was instrumental in establishing Mahalia's relationship with God. Mahalia truly had a personal relationship with God and was baptized at an early age. While in California during her summer visits, Mahalia attended GLA Mission Church and her fellowship in Las Vegas was at Mountaintop Faith Ministries. Whenever Mahalia encountered hard times, she would talk about God giving her strength to deal with any challenges that came her way.
Mahalia showered her nieces and nephews with unconditional love and would often be called on to babysit. She became their daycare provider throughout most of their elementary school years. During this time she taught them about life lessons and shared with them many of her childhood memories about the good ol' days.
Technology and computers were Mahalia's passions. She enjoyed repairing and building computer components. She also loved cooking decadent and delicious food.
Her father Otto Carr and two sisters Lenora Carr and Joyce Akin-Coleman preceded Mahalia in death.
She leaves to cherish her memory a loving mother Betty Wilbert, her daughter Imani Carr and two grandsons Tyler Carr and Jayden Maye. Sisters: Belinda Danielson, Juanita (Walter) Clifton of Las Vegas, NV, Cynthia Howard, Vallerie Hunter of Fontana, CA, Monique Bonton of Bossier City, Louisiana, Bridgette Hunter of Carson, CA, and Jerry Williams of Las Vegas, NV. She leaves to cherish her memory a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
