Marcos Diaz Jr

MARK DIAZ JR. Marcos "Mark" Diaz Jr., 67, to any and all those that knew and loved him, of Las Vegas, was born in Las Vegas on Nellis Air Force Base and has passed away Nov. 27, 2012. Mark was preceded in death by the late Marcos Diaz. He is survived by his mother, Manuela Chavez Diaz; his three sisters, Rebecca Morgan, Katarina Diaz and Lydia Jones; his brother, Francisco Diaz; his adoring wife and spouse, of 40 years, Jan Jordan Diaz; his loving children, Danielle Garner, Tyler Diaz, Jordan Diaz and Marcus Diaz; and his nine grandchildren. Mark was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved his membership within the community very much. Throughout his life he had served in various leadership capacities with the most recent one being a High Counselor within the East Stake. Mark, having been born into a military family had the opportunity to live in Japan and England as a youth, and in states such as Vermont, Kansas and Washington where he ultimately graduated high school from in Spokane at Shadle Park High School. In high school Mark was a fierce competitor and lettered in both Wrestling and Cross Country all four years which born into him an intense love of exercise and competition. Mark always enjoyed the Olympiad and anyone that knew him could often find him at home watching the events intently. Mark above all else was a man of few words but a man of many actions. He returned to Las Vegas shortly after high school where he would remain the rest of his life. He was a 'jack of all trades' and enjoyed several different occupations before finally beginning his career at the housing authority in 1976, where he began as a maintenance worker and worked his way up to a purchasing agent, retiring in 2006. After a brief retirement, Mark opened up a small business titled Fix-It-All, where he employed his wealth of knowledge on literally fixing and building anything his clients requested. In his free time Mark enjoyed several different hobbies which included reading, movies, traveling, flying his plane when he was younger and, since retirement, his most favorite pastime was cruising with his wife, Jan. Mark will be remembered for his warm personality, his loving smile and laugh and his intense desire to serve any and everyone he knew. Mark was a loving father, a devoted husband and an amazing friend who would often dedicate much of his time to the Boy Scouts of America and to coaching much of his son's various sport endeavors. Mark will be missed for so many reasons but most importantly his unwavering companionship with his beloved spouse whom he literally lived for. Mark was the best example to all his children and grandchildren on how to live a noble and beautiful life and for that we will all miss him dearly. In his honor, there will be a viewing from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 4, at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 N. Las Vegas Blvd. N. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 5, at the LDS Chapel, 4040 E. Wyoming Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89104.
