Mark Peter Horlacher passed away peacefully on Friday, February 17, 2023, aged 68. Mark was born in Cedar City, Utah on March 28th, 1954 to Pete Horlacher and Delores Wadsworth Horlacher. He was the oldest of six siblings. In his youth Mark lived with his family in Orem, UT, Reno, NV and eventually Las Vegas, where he graduated from Valley High School in 1972.
Mark graduated from Dixie College (Utah Technical University) in 1978 and attended Brigham Young University for a short period of time. He worked for many years as a salesman for Lawson Products in the Las Vegas area and surrounding counties. In 1982 he married Patty Forsythe and they had three children together, Leslie, Sean and Shane. Mark’s children were a source of great joy and happiness.
Mark is best known to his family and friends for his many adventures. This included hang gliding, hot air ballooning, rappelling, skydiving, boating and other outdoor adventures. He helped generate many fond memories for those that associated with him along with a few near-death experiences. His passion for life was felt by all, even as his physical condition limited his activity. Mark was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at age 30 and slowly became unable to walk. Mark lived to the age of 68 with the help of devoted and loving family members.
Mark was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many church positions, including: Elders Quorum President, High Priest Group Leader and served a full-time mission for two years in New York State.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his former wife Patty Forsythe, children Leslie (Ryan), Sean and Shane, as well as his siblings Kent (Hanah), Lisa, Susan, Glen (Kellee), Wayne (Mary) . He will also be missed by his 6 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 pm on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at the LDS Chapel located at 2091 Wigwam Parkway, Henderson, NV. A viewing will be held on Saturday, March 4th from 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm at the Church. Interment will be in the Panaca Cemetery under the direction of Bunkers Mortuary on March 11th at 1:00 pm.
