Mary Virginia Pate, 93, of Henderson, passed away March 28, 2013. She was born Feb. 20, 1920, to Edna Blanche Daws and Arthur F. Daws, in Oklahoma City, and was a 68-year resident of Nevada. Mary was a retired food service supervisor for the Clark County School District. She met her husband, Rufus Pate, when he was stationed at Will Roger Air Force Base. They were married when he returned from the war overseas. They came to Las Vegas Sept. 30, 1945. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Neil and Robert; and her husband, of 55 years, Rufus, who passed away in 2000. Mary is survived by her son, David (Connie) Pate; daughter, Mary Jo (Bobby) Boyer; grandsons, Bradley (Cherie) Pate and Alex (Deanna) Pate; and two great-grandsons, Benjamin and Jacob Pate. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. N. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 4, at Green Valley Baptist Church, 270 N. Valle Verde Drive. Burial will be at 9:20 a.m. Friday, April 5, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive.
