Melva Woodruff Wilkins

May 8, 1917 — April 16, 2013

Melva Woodruff Wilkins, 95, of Las Vegas, died April 16, 2013, at her home. She was born May 8, 1917, in Rexburg, Idaho. She was the fifth of 10 children and the last remaining sibling. Her parents were Leo E. Woodruff and Eda Rohrbach. She married Russell Stone Wilkins of Wapello, Idaho in 1936. Melva and Russell moved to Las Vegas in 1957. She was a strong-minded, hard-working lady who took great pride in her five boys. Melva held herself and family to high standards. She had little patience for sloth, laziness and whining. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She attended the temple on a regular basis until her health prevented her from doing so. She is survived by her five sons, John Russell (Sharon), of Beaverton, Ore., David Woodruff (LaNell), of Albuquerque, N.M., James Eugene (Mai) of Thailand, Peter Jay (Nita) of Cedar City, Utah, and Paul Kay (Pam) of Las Vegas; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Viewing will be at noon, Saturday, April 27, with services following, at 1 p.m., both at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. N. She will be buried next to her husband at 3 p.m., at Davis Memorial Park, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.
