David Poe, beloved husband, renowned musician, and cherished fixture of the Las Vegas music community, passed away on June 3, 2026.
Born in Alabama, David's love of music began in childhood and grew into a remarkable career spanning decades. In 1979, he made Las Vegas his home, where he became a respected and recognizable presence in the city's entertainment industry. Known for his extraordinary talent, versatility, and warm personality, David earned the admiration of fellow musicians and audiences alike.
Throughout his distinguished career, David worked as an opening act, band leader, conductor, orchestrator, arranger, writer, vocalist, instrumentalist, musical director, and producer. His talent led him to collaborate with some of the most celebrated entertainers in history, including Ringo Starr, Dick Clark, Glen Campbell, Roger Miller, Johnny Cash, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Liberace, Elvis Presley, Jackie Gleason, Linda Ronstadt, Roy Clark, Al Green, Ray Charles, Roy Orbison, James Brown, George Jones, Frank Sinatra, and many others.
David's career took him across the country and around the world. He was a veteran of Nashville recording sessions and Grand Ole Opry appearances, was voted Best Musician at Opryland, toured with Dick Clark, hosted and produced award-winning radio programs, and served as musical director for numerous productions and venues. In Las Vegas, he held leadership roles at iconic locations including the Tropicana Hotel, Landmark Hotel, Las Vegas Country Club, and Wynn Country Club. His performances also extended to Disneyland, Disney World, the Jerry Lewis Telethon, international jazz festivals, and countless stages where his musicianship left a lasting impression.
His peers and industry legends often praised his extraordinary abilities. Benny Goodman called him "a prodigy," Dick Clark said you could "always count on him," and Jackie Gleason described him as "a walking encyclopedia of tunes and trivia." Whether performing before thousands or sharing music with friends, David's passion, professionalism, and joyful spirit shined through every note he played.
Above all else, David treasured his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia, and his four grandchildren, who brought him immense pride and happiness.
He was preceded in death by his three children.
David Poe leaves behind a legacy of music, friendship, and unforgettable performances. His influence on the Las Vegas music scene and the countless lives he touched through his artistry will continue to be felt for generations to come. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by family, friends, fellow musicians, and audiences everywhere.
