Mona Lisa Brown-Powell age 64 from Chicago Illinois , passed away peacefully on January 21st 2026 surrounded by love.
Mona was a proud United States veteran, serving her country with honor and strength. Her service was a reflection of who she was at her core resilient, devoted, and deeply caring.
She was a loving mother, and her greatest role in life was being Mom. The best cook and the most hilarious , intelligent person to engage with . To know Mona, was to love her . Her love was steady and unwavering, and she remained strong and present for those she loved until the very end. She faced life’s challenges with courage and grace, even in her hardest moments.
Mona is survived by her daughter, Imani, who was by her side with love and devotion. Her Sons Aireney and Avery who she loved dearly. She is also survived by Her siblings Rochelle, Valerie, Demetrius, Tina, Tomella, and her late brother Yul. Her mother Elizabeth Mooney. Her grandchildren who she loved deeply Amarion ,Jayce and Ajei.
A burial service with military honors will be celebrated by honoring her service and her life on January 28th 2026, at the Veterans Memorial in Boulder City at 9:00 a.m.. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that she be remembered for her strength, kindness, and the love she gave freely to anyone.
She will always be remembered, always loved, and never forgotten.
