Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body. But rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, latte in the other, body throughly used up, totallly worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, WHAT A RIDE!"
The roads to Las Vegas - Jean and CC lived a short time in Rifle, Colorada, in 1947, where CC enjoyed hunting with his uncle. They lived ten years in Carlsbad, New Mexico and eight years in Albuquerque, New Mexico. During this time Jean and CC enjoyed bowling about three times per week. CC worked at the American Car Foundry in Alburquerque, as an Electrician and eventually at the Test Site in Nevada. In 1982 because of health reasons CC retired as an Electircian from the Clark County School District in Las Vegas, Nevada. CC was a baseball fan.
In November 1958 Jean started working for McLellans counting money and in 1966 worked in a merchandise store. Jean worked in the clerical field with Centel Corporation in Las Vegas, Nevada from February 14, 1972 until her retirement from Centel Corporation June 30, 1989. The last few years while working she played golf, went camping with the Happy Wanderers, and traveled. Since 1984 Jean was active with the Ladies of the Shrine and Daughters of the Nile and Widows of the Shriners. After retirement Jean pursued the things she enjoyed, such as cook-outs with the family.
In Jean's own words:
The day Jean and Chester (CC) got married: The year was 1945, Herber and Bonnie Benjemen were recently married and were friends of Jean and CC's. CC was home on leave from the service. Herber, Bonnie and CC all planned to surprise Jean. When they picked her up from her home they said "she would see where they were going." Around the Glezan/Bowman, Indiana area they visited some friends to ask if they knew of a Preacher in the area that could perform a marriage ceremony. They all went to the Preacher's house and knocked on the door. The Preacher's wife came to the door and told them to wait; she would get the Preacher from the barn, where he was milking cows. When the Preacher returned to the house he went to the bedroom to change from his overalls into a suit and tie. The Preacher performed the ceremony and the Preacher's wife, Herber and Bonnie were the witnesses. After the ceremony, Jean, CC, Herber and Bonnie went to dinner in a restaurant.
