Patsy Ruth (Evans) Garfield

August 20, 1932 — August 22, 2022

Patsy Evans Garfield left our world August 22, 2022. She was born Patricia Ruth Evans on August 20, 1932, in Boulder City, Nevada, to Oral Evans and Ruth (Dickerson) Evans. Her family welcomed her during the construction of what was to become Hoover Dam and resided in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the time of her death and for many years during her life.

She was preceded in death by both her sons, Stephen Laval Garfield (b. 2-19-1952, d. 3-20-1988) and Curtis Evans Garfield (b. 9-11-1958, d. 6-23-1993) and the husband she married twice, Neil Laval Garfield (b. 10-31-1931, d. 11-26-2020). She is survived by her sister, LaRae Murdock, and by her brother, Lamar Evans. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jennifer Gehant, Heather Garfield, Michella Hart, and Tanner Albright.

Patsy grew up traveling as her family moved frequently while her father worked for the railroad in Utah, Arizona, Idaho, and Montana. She attended high school in both Kingman, Arizona, and Milford, Utah, the latter being where she met her husband, Neil. They were married the first time on March 20, 1951, and spent much of their early married life in Redlands, California, where they raised their two boys, Stephen and Curtis. She began her career at Redlands Community Hospital in Redlands, California, after raising her boys. In 1977, she moved to Las Vegas to open and run a branch of Nevada House of Hose, an industrial hose and coupling business started by her father, Oral Evans, and her uncle, Cecil Evans, in Salt Lake City. She owned and operated Nevada House of Hose from 1977 to 1999 along with her brother, Lamar Evans, before selling the business and retiring. She developed the motto “Happiness is a good hose job.” She spent many years of her retirement living in St. George, Utah, volunteering at Dixie Regional Medical Center. After divorcing in 1971, she remarried Neil in 2012 and moved to StGeorge, returning to Las Vegas to be closer to her grandchildren in 2021.

Patsy loved to spend time with her grandchildren and other family members and loved to travel with family whenever she was able. She loved Zion National Park and the South Rim of the Grand Canyon and spent many happy days camping and hiking in these places with her sons, grandchildren, and other family members. She enjoyed cooking for anyone and everyone, playing games (especially chess and Monopoly), and always wanted to host family in her home.

A graveside service will be held for her at 10 am on September 30, 2022, at the Bunker Memorial Gardens Cemetery on W. Lone Mountain Road.
