Paul Dino Bertuccini, 87, of Las Vegas, passed away October 14, 2022. He was born March 2nd, 1935, in Philadelphia, and was a lifelong resident of Nevada. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Palmyra Bertuccini; brother, Salvatore Bertuccini; sister, Jennie Bertuccini, and sister, Rose Bertuccini Piccolo.
He is survived by his two sons, Paul Bertuccini and John Bertuccini; grandchildren, Christina Bertuccini and Ava Rose Bertuccini.
Paul Dino Bertuccini started his career as an entertainer on the streets of Philly as the “Shoe Shine Boy”. He performed in front of jukeboxes and hoagie stands singing hits for patrons to enjoy, and anyone who would listen. Paul Dino had decided to become a barber and in the late '50s, he started a band named The Nite Caps and adopted the shortened professional name, Paul Dino. Paul had learned to play several instruments during high school including piano, saxophone, drums, and accordion. He was instantly drawn to show business and knew it was his calling.
Songwriting was a passion as well and he began making regular excursions into New York City to knock on the doors of the various music-publishing houses. He made overtures to some of the record labels too. After more than a year of attempts, he got his foot in the door at a very small company, Flame.
With his group, the Debonairs, Dino recorded two songs he had written "Goin' In Town" and "Will You Marry Me". The Record was released in early 1960 as Paul Dino, two years later the single was re-released as the Debonairs. Dino was signed to Promo label, and his single “Ginnie Bell” debuted in January 1961 and eventually broke into the Top 40 that year. Dino took advantage of this success by appearing on shows such as Dick Clark’s American Bandstand.
His 1961 hit “Ginnie Bell” propelled his career to new heights. Soon after his success, Dino moved to Las Vegas and began to perform alongside Wayne Newton at the Copacabana and the Fremont Hotel and Casino.
Paul Dino Bertuccini married Justine Carelli, an American Bandstand dancer, in 1963. Paul welcomed his sons Paul Bertuccini in 1964, and John Bertuccini in 1966. The birth of his sons, Paul and John, prompted Dino to make a change. A trip to the notary unexpectedly began his career as a prolific Real Estate Investor. From that moment on, he began a new phase of his life.
Paul Dino Bertuccini’s life was filled with so many accomplishments. He was greatly loved and admired by so many. If you knew Dino, you knew he always had a song and smile. He was truly the life of the party and always the star of the show.
