Peter Andreycak, age 90, passed away Dec. 27, 2011, in Las Vegas. Born June 21, 1921, in Bayonne, N.J., Peter was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II before completing his training as a tool and dye maker. He later became an engineer in the emerging plastics industry. He moved his family to Fullerton, Calif. in 1963, retired in the late '80s, and relocated to Las Vegas in 1990 with his wife, Eileen, with whom he also loved to travel. He was a member of both the Elks and Moose lodges, and enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Highly creative in all things mechanical, he was always redesigning, fixing or modifying everyday items, including the visual aids he used in his later years after being diagnosed with macular degeneration, to make them more user-friendly. He enjoyed learning new things and became quite adept at computer skills late in life. Peter will always be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, amusing impressions, and love of breaking out into song. He was an excellent listener, and was the person everyone sought for sound advice and consolation. Peter is survived by his wife, of 61 years, Eileen; son, Peter M. Andreycak of Glendale, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law, Lynne and Larry Clark of Bishop, Calif.; daughter, Lee Ridgeway of Riverside, Calif.; and granddaughters, Lindsay and Kelly Ridgeway. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. A private memorial service and interment will be held at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside.
