Raymond Long

August 26, 1949 — June 15, 2014

RAYMOND LONG Ray Long of Las Vegas, was born Aug. 26 in Porterville, Calif. He passed away suddenly Sunday, June 15, 2014, in his home in Las Vegas. Moving from Porterville in 1969, Ray was stationed at Nellis Air Force Base until his honorable discharge in 1972. After Leaving the U.S. Air Force, Ray managed a finance company for four years until finding his true calling which was selling up-scale cars in the Las Vegas Valley. His career in car sales resulted in many awards. In 1979, Ray won salesman of the year selling more than 420 cars that year. The award he cherished most was the Mercedes ring he won in 1979 from Fletcher Jones Chevrolet for selling the most Mercedes. Ray also worked with Lexus as their internet director for ten years. Ray felt his customers came first which was reflected in the work he did spanning more than 35 years. Ray was blessed with two wonderful children he was very proud of, Dr. Jennifer Levy of Orinda, Calif. and Dr. Matthew Long of Redondo Beach, Calif. His daughter, Jennifer and son-in-law, Scott Levy presented him with two beautiful grandchildren, Charles Robert (7) and Jane Emily (5). Ray's third grandchild from his son, Matthew and daughter-in-law, Ghen Long is due to arrive at the end of August. Ray was one of three children. His parents, Ila Dale and Raymond B. Long of Fresno, Calif., preceded him in death. His older sister Linda, along with her husband Ed, now living in Georgia presented him with two nieces. Christa and Elena. Ray was very proud of his niece Elena, being a disabled citizen she has been able to accomplish a lot in her life and he followed and supported her with all of her endeavors. Ray's younger sister, Karen, from Central, Calif., presented him with two nieces, Missy, and Holly; and a nephew, Ryan. Every once in a while a special person passes through our lives leaving their mark on our heart and Ray was one of these people. His legacy will live on through his children, grandchildren, family, and those who were lucky enough to have known him. May peace be with you my dear friend. Ray was the kind of person who loved animals and always had one by his side. In lieu of flowers the family is asking donations be made to the Las Vegas Valley Humane Society http://www.lvvhumane.org/ A celebration of the life of Ray Allen Long will be at 11a.m. Thursday, June 26, at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. N.
