RAYMOND MARTIN Raymond O. Martin, 89, of Las Vegas, passed away Sept. 5, 2011. He was born Dec. 9, 1921, in Kanawha, Texas, and was a 58-year resident of Nevada. Raymond served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and Cavalry during World War II and was a retired electrical contractor. Raymond married his wartime sweetheart, Billie Jo Sparkman in 1946. He was an exceptionally talented and intelligent man - an accomplished electrical engineer, welder, business owner, paralegal and published author. He was an early subcontractor in Las Vegas, responsible for sound and electrical systems in many of the now historical buildings. Raymond was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Jo; his parents, Claud and Rilla Martin; brothers, Howard and Burl; and sister, Jeannette Martin. Raymond is survived by his brother, Richard A. Martin; sister, Roberta Webb; children, Peggy Perkins-Arnot, Raye Nell Moran, Carol Kozak, Michael Martin and Shirley McComas; as well as 15 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. N.
