RHODA COOPER Rhoda Mae "Rosie" Cooper, 73, of North Las Vegas, passed to our Heavenly Father and his Elysian Fields May 19, 2011. She was born Sept. 17, 1937, to John and Eva Watson (nee Johnson) in Bovina, Miss., and was a 24-year resident of Nevada. Married to the late Talmus Cooper, she was a doting mother of five, a laborer, an entrepreneur, and a member of The New Macedonia Baptist Church of Tallulah, La. and The Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church of Las Vegas. She was sole owner and operator of "The Greasy Spoon" bar and grill in Tallulah for 20 years, and "Mama" to the Golden Nugget housekeeping staff for 12. She was preceded in death by her husband, of 46 years; her loving parents; and a loving grandson, Manzell Newell. She leaves to cherish her loving and happy memories four sons, Alvin Ray Watson of Tallulah, Nathaniel Watson Newell, Thomas James Newell, Jr., and William James Newell Sr., all of Las Vegas; one daughter, Linda Kaye Newell-Love of Memphis, Tenn.; an aunt, Pearlina Moore of Vicksburg, Miss., 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of friends and extended family. The family asks that you please join us in a "Home Going Celebration" starting with viewing and visitation Tuesday, May 31, 4-8 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, both at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. N. Graveside services will immediately follow at Bunkers Eden Vale Memorial Park, 1216 Las Vegas Blvd. N.
