ROBERT ASHWORTH U.S. Air Force, Retired Robert Thomas Ashworth, 82, of Las Vegas, passed away peacefully June 2, 2014. He was born Oct. 23, 1931, in St. George, Utah. Robert married his sweetheart, Janet Bunker, in Las Vegas, June 8, 1953. They were sealed in the Los Angeles Temple Nov. 12, 1957. Robert and Janet were blessed with four children. He accomplished many things in his lifetime, but his greatest loves were Janet, his family, the church and accounting. He also loved Disneyland and the beach, where he took his family each year. Robert served faithfully in many church callings his most treasured service was as bishop to the Sixth Ward. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in accounting. Following graduation, Robert was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Air Force, flying F-86 Sabre fighter jets. Upon completing service to his country, Robert received his master's degree from the University of Southern California, while working at a large accounting firm in downtown Los Angeles. He went on to become a partner in a large accounting firm then owned his own successful accounting firm in Las Vegas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet; daughter, Deborah (Bowler); granddaughter, Megan Bowler; and grandsons, Robert Ashworth and Nathan Krause. Robert is survived by his children, Monica (Krause), Ken Ashworth and Valerie (Campbell). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Don and Dean Ashworth; and sister, Mary Lynn Ashworth. Viewing will be 6-8 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. N. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 9, with a viewing one hour prior, both at the LDS Chapel, 3400 W. Charleston Blvd. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Missionary Fund.
