Robin G Wright

April 29, 1946 — April 19, 2026

Pastor Robin “Rob” Wright went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 19, 2026, just days before his 80th birthday.

Rob lived a life marked by faith, service, adventure, and a deep love for people. For more than five decades, he faithfully preached the Gospel, encouraged believers, mentored pastors, counseled families, and pointed countless people toward the hope found in Jesus Christ. Whether standing behind a pulpit, speaking on the radio, or sitting across a table sharing a cup of coffee, Rob never missed an opportunity to encourage someone in their faith.

A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Rob served multiple tours in Vietnam as a combat aircrewman. His military service shaped a lifetime of courage, compassion, and commitment to serving others.

In 1975, Rob received national attention while serving as the Protestant Chaplain at Attica State Prison in New York. His ministry there reflected a calling that would define the rest of his life: bringing hope, redemption, and the message of God’s grace to people from every walk of life.

Throughout his ministry, Rob traveled extensively, speaking in churches, conferences, and ministry events across America, Canada, England, Haiti, and Africa. He authored two books, wrote numerous magazine articles, and hosted a Christian radio broadcast heard on stations throughout the Southwestern United States. His ministry reached far beyond church walls and touched lives around the world.

In 1990, Rob married Julie, the love of his life and partner in ministry. Together they devoted themselves to planting churches, serving congregations, and helping people grow in their faith. Over the next twenty-five years, they established seven churches together, culminating with Abundant Grace Church in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their shared ministry became one of the defining chapters of Rob’s life, and together they impacted countless lives through their faithfulness, compassion, and unwavering commitment to the Gospel.

Following Julie’s passing on December 18, 2015, Rob continued serving faithfully while cherishing the legacy they had built together. Though he missed her deeply, he remained committed to encouraging others and sharing the message of Christ that had guided his life.

Those who knew Rob best will remember more than his accomplishments. They will remember his stories, his sense of humor, his strong convictions, his love for Scripture, and his genuine concern for people. He had a pastor’s heart and a gift for making people feel seen, heard, and valued. He invested in people personally, often long after a sermon ended or a service concluded. Many considered him not only their pastor, but also a mentor, counselor, and friend.

Outside of ministry, Rob was an avid classic car enthusiast and proud member of the Las Vegas Cruising Association. Whether behind a pulpit or behind the wheel of a classic car, he brought enthusiasm and joy to everything he did. Among fellow car enthusiasts, he was affectionately known as “The Faster Pastor,” a nickname earned through his love of cruising, classic cars, and the friendships built around them. He could often be found sharing stories about his latest project, admiring someone else’s restoration, or enjoying time with friends at local car events.

Above all, Rob loved Jesus. His faith was not simply something he preached—it was something he lived. His greatest desire was that others would know the grace, forgiveness, and eternal hope found in Christ.

Rob was preceded in death by his beloved wife and ministry partner, Julie Wright.

He is survived by his son, David Chapman of McKinney, Texas, along with extended family members, countless friends, church members, fellow ministers, and spiritual sons and daughters whose lives were forever impacted by his ministry.

While family and friends grieve his absence, they rejoice in the promise Rob proclaimed for so many years: that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Having finished his race and kept the faith, he now rests in the presence of the Savior he loved and served.
