In Loving Memory
Rodney Carroll Dukes, age 89, of Las Vegas, NV, passed away peacefully on September 6th, 2025, in the arms of his granddaughter.
Born in Jacksonville, FL on October, 27, 1935, Rodney made Las Vegas his home in 1953 when he was stationed to Nellis Air Force Base in active duty at the age of 18. He married Eleanore Sandavol and had three children. He was a hard worker and spent the majority of his career in the housing/real estate market, owning many of his own companies that contributed to building up the Vegas Valley. Known as one of the first appraisers, he loved buying and rehabbing homes in retirement.
For those who knew Rodney, he will be remembered for his clear honesty, determination and his ability to impact great change in a person’s life without asking for anything in return. Honorarily Battle Born, Rodney loved to explore the outdoors mining for gold, fishing, flying, skiing, or sailing. He was known to make time for family and friends and he loved a good conversation and/or a good book.
Rodney was preceded in death by his parents: Leon and Gertrude Dukes, his brothers: Milton, Henry, David, James, Lonnie, Lavant and Delano Dukes, and his son Keith Dukes. He is survived by his sister Pauline Davis, stepsister Sharon Youngblood, two brothers: Gress and Warren; his two children: Kelley Dukes and Glenda Dukes-Compton, his daughter in law Traci Dukes, and his grandchildren and great grandchildren who love him very much.
